Where Did The Summer Go?

First, I would like to thank you for sticking with me and reading this blog post even though I seem to have disappeared over the summer and have not been keeping in touch.

Summer is rapidly coming to an end so here is a quick round up of what is blooming in the garden right now. Click on this link for a video of the late summer garden.

There have been flowers this season but not quite in their usual abundance. This means I have been enjoying the garden but not making up my usual number of arrangements and bouquets. A combination of weather, rabbit and chipmunk attacks and just poor germination and growth have been behind this and I have just had to work with it. Gardening is full of challenges but that just means room for improvement next year.

So don’t be too disappointed if you have had some failures this year as well!

There is good news though!

I am going to be at Hintonburg Blooms first flower market in Somerset Square along with some other local flower growers this Saturday 24th September. I am really looking forward to this as it is part of Taste of Wellington West and if you have followed me for a while you will know it is an event and a cause I love.

I will have fresh flower bouquets and jars, hydrangea bunches, hydrangea wreaths and dried flowers too.

And the best thing is I will be donating 20% of my sales that day to Parkdale Food Centre, the Taste Festival’s charity.

I hope to see you there! It’s a great event in a fun neighbourhood with lots of small locally owned businesses taking part.

Over on my Instagram I am doing a Giveaway but I don’t want you to miss out. If you are in Ottawa and can pick up a prize then add a comment on this blog post and I’ll pick a bonus winner from there too. You have until Saturday 24th to add a comment!

Thanks for your support and taking part!

For now I’m busy getting ready for Saturday’s market and planning some dried flower pop ups soon. I am also working on some big changes in my own gardens. More about those in a future blog!
